Brownian motion and Harmonic functions on Sol(p,q)

چکیده
The Lie group Sol(p, q) is the semidirect product induced by the action of R on R which is given by (x, y) 7→ (ex, e−qzy), z ∈ R. Viewing Sol(p, q) as a 3-dimensional manifold, it carries a natural Riemannian metric and Laplace-Beltrami operator. We add a linear drift term in the z-variable to the latter, and study the associated Brownian motion with drift. We derive a central limit theorem and compute the rate of escape. Also, we introduce the natural geometric compactification of Sol(p, q) and explain how Brownian motion converges almost surely to the boundary in the resulting topology. We also study all positive harmonic functions for the Laplacian with drift, and determine explicitly all minimal harmonic functions. All this is carried out with a strong emphasis on understanding and using the geometric features of Sol(p, q), and in particular the fact that it can be described as the horocyclic product of two hyperbolic planes with curvatures −p and −q, respectively.

متن کاملHarmonic functions of subordinate killed Brownian motion
In this paper we study harmonic functions of subordinate killed Brownian motion in a domain D: We first prove that, when the killed Brownian semigroup in D is intrinsic ultracontractive, all nonnegative harmonic functions of the subordinate killed Brownian motion in D are continuous and then we establish a Harnack inequality for these harmonic functions. We then show that, when D is a bounded L...
متن کاملThe effect of various conductivity and viscosity models considering Brownian motion on nanofluids mixed convection flow and heat transfer
In this paper the effect of using various models for conductivity and viscosity considering Brownian motion of nanoparticles is investigated. This study is numerically conducted inside a cavity full of Water-Al2O3 nanofluid at the case of mixed convection heat transfer. The effect of some parameters such as the nanoparticle volume fraction, Rayleigh, Richardson and Reynolds numbers has been ex...

Furstenberg in his paper Fu71] considered the Brownian motion on a Rie-mannian symmetric space S and proved that if G is a lattice in the corresponding semi-simple Lie group, then for any point o 2 S there exists a probability measure on G such that the harmonic measure o of the point o on the Furstenberg boundary of the space S is-stationary, i.e., o = P g (g)g o. It implies that for any bound...
متن کاملTug of war with noise: a game theoretic view of the p-Laplacian
Fix a bounded domain Ω ⊂ Rd, a continuous function F : ∂Ω → R, and constants ǫ > 0 and 1 < p, q < ∞ with p−1 + q−1 = 1. For each x ∈ Ω, let uǫ(x) be the value for player I of the following two-player, zero-sum game. The initial game position is x. At each stage, a fair coin is tossed and the player who wins the toss chooses a vector v ∈ B(0, ǫ) to add to the game position, after which a random ...
